*RCIA is the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. It is a process by which a person becomes initiated into the full sacramental life of the Catholic Church through weekly instruction. The RCIA is changing names later this year in 2024 and will now be known as the “Order of Christian Initiation of Adults”, or OCIA. Among other things, this new OCIA ritual book broadens the name to include the entire spiritual process, and reflects that the Catholic journey is a continual, lifelong commitment. The Archdiocese website notes that “First use [of the ritual book] is possible on December 1, 2024, and the National Statutes will take effect. Use of this ritual book is mandatory beginning Ash Wednesday, March 5, 2025.” For more detailed information about the content of the OCIA/RCIA, you can go to https://resources.catholicaoc.org/divineworship-and-sacraments/news/ocia
